what does "x" function in MenuItemSelector screen?

Are you talking about the number pad on the main POS screen when you select items ? If so that is the quantity button for scanning.

For example, someone buys 5 cans of the same soft drink, you would hit '5x' and then scan only one can to add 5 cans to the sale.
