Split Bills

Thank you Emre and team for creating this wonderful software. I've been monitoring it for awhile now to see how it progresses. It shows great potential and I would love to start using it. I really do enjoy the process for settling separate checks that you have now. It is smooth and extremely conducive to a lot of smaller environments. I definitely wouldn't get rid of it. I do however like CafeCuppio's suggestion. It is very similar to one that I'm used to. The only difference being that in the one I'm familiar with you can move multiple items at once or even create 'seats' with groups of items and then move them around. You can also split items which is increasingly becoming a handy feature but is apparently a programming nightmare. All these features help with the flow of the restaurant. The seat grouping is related to another feature called 'Pivot Seating' where the server orders all the food in seat sections with the check. The first seat would already be defined, such as the first seat to the left when approaching the table from a certain direction. Having the seats predefined allows other employees to deliver the food to each individual without having been the order taker. With restaurant patrons consisting more and more of groups of friends instead of families we see the need to split checks grow. Being able to separate them out and see them as wholly different checks is useful. We also need to be able to print those checks individually for the table. Splitting items is handy because of this same dynamic. If a large group of friends shares one or more appetizers it makes it easier to be able to make 2 or 3 items out of one and put it on the separate checks.  Thank you again for creating what I see as the most promising new POS software out there.

Just a thought instead of setting your map with table add the table to the map and add the seats as seats eg t1 for table 1 s1t1 s2t1 for seat 1 and 2 for table 1 then the table can order and at the end get split.

EricAllen:
pecanhouse: That's a really good idea but I'm not sure I'd use that in the long run. The huge increase in tables would slow down use. It would also be impossible to enter in each seats order fluidly going between screens. Your idea would fix the check splitting issue completely though so it could be helpful in some situations. I've also seen people create tables for every bar stool so that idea would help there as well.

oda:
Instead of creating tables to split the ticket, why don't we just have the function to print the split ticket. I think this would be much better, since samba pos can split the ticket equally, or you can just which items to split. Thus, if we can just be able to print (maybe through action and rules?) the split ticket that would solve the problem (if the customer each want their split ticket). Just my two cents!

Leon.

Clone your Receipt Print Job and change the Printing Content to Last Paid Lines, and change the Button Header to Print Receipt Selected Items, and just have Display At Payment Screen selected.
Now when you are at the Settle screen, and you select the Items from the left, you can click Print Receipt Selected Items and it will give you a Receipt with just those Items.

Emre,

Can we get the Item Tags on the Settle Screen so its easier to select by Seat?
