Enabling Inventory
« on: March 23, 2012, 01:30:10 am »
Hi,

I saw a couple of postings scattered around in the forum, but nothing concrete explaining from the beginning to end on how to get the whole inventory section going.

From what I understand is the process is this:
- You first add inventory items ....
- Then you create recipes to map inventory to a product ....
- Lastly you use Transactions to add inventory ...

Adding Inventory Items:
Inventory Item Name - This is for example a can of Coke like, Coke 330ml
Group Code - Is this like a category like Canned Drinks, or the Supplier ??
Base unit - I inserted "Can"
Transaction unit - I inserted "Case"
Transaction Unit Multiplier - I insert "24" (24 cans in a case)

Adding the Recipe:
Recipe Name: Coke 330ml
Product: Select the Coke 330ml from Product List
Portion: Hmmmmm, noting to select and it want something selected?
Fixed Cost: Cost per can of Coke 330ml
Inventory Items: Unable to select Add Inventory.

So this is where I got stuck .. any pointers please?
Thanks

I think you have to select normal from the dropdown list.
It can contain portions like normal, 1/2 portion, child portion etc

Hi Cafecuppio,

You have to set up portions in management edit product. Its under portion prices.

Dafault portion is Normal, I just added the price to it, so the Normal portion is there.

Hi Cafecuppio,

Does that now mean you can set inventory correctly now?

Yes there is and that is where it gets interesting ... well, kind of..... I sell the same product in both the restaurant and in the take-away, but there is a price difference between the 2 departments. Should I have different names for the same product should they be used in both departments?

For using different prices on different departments you can use "price definitions"
Navigate to Management > Products > Price Definition List and add a price definition. For example "Take Away Prices" for Name and "ta" for Price Tag.

When you enter Price List editor you'll see a new column labelled as "ta" for Take Away prices.
After entering prices edit Take Away department and choose "ta" as Price Tag

When Take Away prices used cashier will see a little "ta" label next to prices.

As an alternative to automatic discounts  you can use this feature for defining discounted prices too. That will give the possibility of using different discount amounts on different products or totally disabling discounts for specific items.

So you'll be busy on weekend :) Not relates with your question but while working on your backup I thought you'll like this tip for the menu buttons.

I was exploring on the inventory part today.
Is there a easy way to upload the inventory items and create the transaction document, like Adding products in a batch.

Do we have some sample  inventory items, recipes and Transaction Documents, just to understand the meaning of how we should enter the data into those tabs.

Thanks Guys :-
